Ram ProMaster Van Build

We Bought a Van! Ram ProMaster Van Build Conversion – Episode 1 | Jason Klunk

I will be converting a 2019 Ram ProMaster 136″ WB into a camper van over the next few months. In this video series I will be sharing the journey and progress of the van conversion.

For some reason as a kid, I always wanted a van. About 4 years ago I saw a really low quality van built out and was really close to purchasing it, but decided to wait a bit. Over the past few years I watched as friends built out a few vans and kept telling myself I didn’t need one. I finally decided to pull the trigger in 2020. I’m stoked to get this thing built out for some adventures.

How to choose a van to convert?

I chose to go with the Ram ProMaster 136″ WB, for a variety of reasons. We will not be living in this, so we didn’t need the extra 2 feet that the ProMaster 159″ WB gives you. I wanted to be able to feel like I could park pretty much wherever, and with this van I can. It’s about the same length as a small pickup truck, it just feels bigger because of the height and cargo area. I almost went with the ProMaster 118″ WB with the plan of adding a pop top, but it felt like it was going to be too much work and not enough reward when the 136 already had the high roof and a little more room to work.

A lot of people don’t like the look of the ProMaster’s. I actually prefer them over the Ford Transit’s. I wasn’t about to drop 100k on a Sprinter, nor did I want anything Mercedes related, so I went with the ProMaster.

The plan is to finish this bad boy off as clean as possible within the next few months so we can take it on a road trip back home to the midwest during the summer, with our doge. We will be using this as a surf mobile, campervan, doomsday vehicle, etc.
